Product Description:
This is a recreation of an 1864 working Gansey from The Tynemouth Volunteer life brigade museum in North Shields, UK.
Designed in Northumberland and Knitted in Cumbria in a small artisanal factory, using yarn from British farmers which is spun at a Yorkshire Mill and finally embroidered in Whitley Bay.
Our Gansey is finished with a hand made leather etched patch identifier on the sleeve. Each sweater will be registered in the log book in the historic Watch House museum in Tynemouth.
Sizing - Unisex
Each actual sweater chest size is given, choose your size according to your preferred fit. If in doubt send us a message.

100% British Wool made in Great Britain
After Care
No need to wash your Gansey frequently as wool has natural wicking and anti-odour properties. Simply air it after wearing. If necessary, it will benefit from occasionally being hand washed, remove your leather patch first, use warm, not hot water and some wool wash detergent, lightly squeeze excess water out and lay flat to dry. Blast with a little steam and you’ll be good to wear again.
